Lillie sat down on a bar stool and starred down at her hands. She had a long day and things seemed even worse being as all she had was an empty condo to go home to. Ever since her husband or now ex husband left her for the lady that lived across the hall. She wasn't even pretty. Though she was home all day and she cooked and cleaned. Unlike Lillie who spent sometimes more then forty-eight hours at a time, working. She sometimes didn't even come home for days on end. She would just sleep in the on call room so she could be there if she was needed. She knew that her job was always going to get in the way of her having relationships that last but she was still lonely.
What can I get for you?
"A shot of tequila and a good looking man."
She answered.
One shot of tequila coming up for the lady.

Matt walked into the bar. He knew he should go home and see his wife and son but he needed a drink. Work as always was hard but he decided not to let that get in the way of his happiness.
He walked to the bar and ordered a beer. He looked over and saw Lillie, a fellow attending, sitting alone. He paid for the beer and then walked over to her. Matt sat down in the stool next to him and said "Mind if I join you?"

Lillie looked over to her side and smiled when she saw Matt. Her and Matt were pretty good friends. He was one of the few people she didn't mind being around all the time. The only thing that sucked about there relationship was that they could only be friends. He was married and told her that it would only ever be a friendship. She hated this being as she ad feelings for him but she respected his wishes and never pushed at it.
Looking down at her drink and then back up to him as he spoke she answered his question.
"Not at all, I would actually feel hurt if you didn't"
Not hurt in a you don't like me cry myself to sleep way but friends usually sat with friends.
"Long day?"
She asked. Noticing that he was wore out. She didn't see him much today being as she was in surgery most of the day and it took away from her socializing time.

"Yeah. I just stopped to grab a drink before heading home. Are you okay?" Lately he's been worried about Lillie. Her husband just left her and he didn't think she was holding up well. He looked at her. She seemed really tired and depressed.
Matt hated not being able to comfort Lillie. She wanted more than a friendship but he was in love with his wife. He sighed and looked down at his beer. He wanted her to be happy but he couldn't give her what she wanted.
